Dear Parent,
Under the Public Education Grant provisions, a school that has 50 percent or fewer students passing the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) tests in Reading/English Language Arts, Writing, Mathematics, Science or Social Studies in any previous 2 of 3 years, the school must notify parents of their options which include a transfer provision. A parent of a student enrolled in any campuses listed may make application to attend a campus in any other school district for the 2012-2013 school year.
It is important to understand that a student may only transfer from a PEG school to a non-PEG school with the approval of the non-PEG school administration and the school district in which the student resides is not required to provide transportation free of charge from the PEG listed school to the new school.
Bovina Elementary School was placed on the PEG list because the fourth grade students taking the TAKS Writing test fell below 50 Percent in school year 2010-01.
