ATSSB All Region MS Band Results

45 Bovina Middle School Band Students traveled to Shallowater last Saturday for the ATSSB Region 16 All Region Middle School Band Auditions. There were over 500 students representing 22 Class 1A Schools competing for 111 spots in the 2013 1A All Region MS Band.
Bovina placed 27 students in the 2013 All Region MS Band eclipsing Bovina's previous high totals of 22 for both 2012 and 2011. Bovina's 27 All Region MS Band Students is by far the largest single delegation of students from one school in ATSSB Region 16.
There are five Bovina 8th Grade Students that made the 2013 All Region MS Band that are also members of the BHS Mustang Marching Band. They are Alma Nayely Hernandez on Flute (2nd chair), Heather Rocha on Clarinet (19th chair), Lizet Anett on Bass Clarinet (1st chair), Adriel Vela on trumpet (1st chair), and Gabriel Gonzalez on trumpet (2nd chair). It is interesting to note here that Alma Hernandez (flute) and Gabriel Gonzalez (trumpet) are making the All Region Middle School Band for their 3rd time. They have become the 3rd and 4th BMS Students to accomplish this feat in school history. (Bernie Delacruz in 2009-11 and Cruz Herrera in 2010-12...both on trumpet).
Colt Band Students (6th & 7th Graders) earning spots in the 2013 All Region Band are: Paulina Menza on Flute (3rd chair), Elide Avilez on Flute (5th chair), Gabby Ortiz on Clarinet (1st chair), Osvaldo Snyder on Clarinet (2nd chair), Astrid Delacruz on Clarinet (3rd chair), Leslie Gomez on Clarinet (5th chair), Ariana Flores on Clarinet (10th chair), Gerardo Delacruz on Clarinet (15th chair), Yesenia Diaz on Bass Clarinet (2nd chair), Jasmine Perez on Tenor Saxophone (1st Alternate), Enrrique Carrillo on Baritone Saxophone (1st chair), Gavin Mejia on Trumpet (3rd chair), Artemio Cruz on Trumpet (9th chair), Miguel Rocha on Trumpet (10th chair), Hector Rodriguez on Trumpet (12th chair), Tony Lara on Trumpet (15th chair), Maria Sanchez on Trumpet (16th chair), Jennifer Porras on Trombone (1st chair), Eric Rodriguez on Trombone (6th chair), Bryan Delatorre on Trombone (9th chair), Noel Vela on Euphonium (2nd chair), and Andres Loera on Xylophone/Bells (1st chair).
These Bovina All Region Middle School Band Students will travel to the Lubbock Civic Center to participate in the 2013 ATSSB All Region Band Clinic on Friday January 25th and perform in concert on Saturday January 26th. The concert is open to the public at the Lubbock Civic Center Auditorium and begins at 1PM. There is a small admission at the door.
The 2013 1A MS All Region Band will be under the direction of guest conductor Joe Barrow - Head Band Director at Pampa ISD (and formerly the Head Band Director at Hereford). The organizer for the 1A MS All Region Band is Carroll Rhodes - Head Band Director at Tahoka ISD and the Class 1A Representative on the State Board of Directors of ATSSB.
Other students competing from Bovina were: Maria Ixparpuac on flute, Abigail Hernandez on Flute, Yesenia Avila on Flute, Jadon Nyguen on Clarinet, Ashley Rocha on Clarinet, Moises Perez on Alto Saxophone, Julissa Serrano on Alto Saxophone, Martin Jacquez on Alto Saxophone, Manuel Sanchez on Alto Saxophone, Edgar Olvera on Alto Saxophone, Mireya Rodriguez on Alto Saxophone, Brenda Flores on Alto Saxophone, Jasmine Lara on Alto Saxophone, Gerardo Carrillo on Trumpet, Carlos Garcia on Trumpet, David Lara on Trumpet, Manuel Ramos on Trumpet, and Viridana Guevara on Trombone.
All these students did a great job and many were very close to making the cut and represented the BMS Colt Band well! They will no doubt make the All Region Band in future years.
Please make plans to attend our Annual Bovina Mustang and Colt Bands Christmas Concert on Thursday December 13th at 7PM. The concert will be held in the BHS Auditorium and there is no admission charge.
