Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in our staff and students, we will transition to remote learning for the week of November 30 – December 4, 2020.

COVID-19 Updates

 UPDATE: Thursday, April 23

Bovina ISD Community:

Beginning Monday, April 27, 2020, Bovina ISD will be reducing the distribution of student meals to Mondays and Thursdays, although enough meals will be provided on these days to give students breakfast and lunch for each week day.

This change is intended to limit the health risk for staff preparing and serving meals and for parents and students who are picking up the meals amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we are constantly adjusting to make this work the best for all concerned.

Denise Anderson, Bovina ISD Superintendent

UPDATE: Friday, April 17

Per the Governors orders issued today, April 17, 2020, Bovina ISD will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, including summer school, in order to support our nation’s need to slow the spread of COVID-19. Online learning and packet distribution will continue and teachers will continue to be in contact with students to monitor progress. We will continue this method of instruction during summer school for those students that need extra support or for finishing credits.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has outlined the need for all communities to implement a social distancing protocol. We want to reiterate a request to our broader community to take the following reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of the illness:

=         Don’t shake hands

=         Wash your hands regularly

=         Limit movement within the community, especially avoiding crowded placed and maintaining 3 to 6 ft of distance between people (at least an arm’s length)

=         If you are moving around in the community, don’t congregate in large groups

=         For those who have traveled to areas with known COVID-19 cases – both inside and outside of the country – we ask that you self-quarantine and monitor for symptoms. Students who have traveled should plan to stay home for two weeks after arriving home. Please contact your campus to let them know, and this will be considered an excused absence.

=         If you suspect you have symptoms of COVID-19, call your health care provider for medical advice .

=         Keep your child at home if he/she feels ill, even if you think it is just a cold.

=         Do not leave the house if you are ill, except to access medical care

This is a quickly changing situation, and we will continue to monitor information, will assess conditions, and be in contact with local partners to keep you informed.

Thank you for your support and cooperation as we strive to ensure that all members of the community in Bovina stay safe and healthy.

COVID-19 Food Service

Bovina ISD Food Service during Closure

Bovina ISD understands the importance of nutritional support for our students during the school closure from March 23 – April 3.

Beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2020, we will be providing grab and go meals for ALL children who are between the ages of 1-18 in Bovina.

Bovina ISD Community:

Beginning this Wednesday, April 1, 2020, our grab and go meal hours will be changed to 10:30 – 12:00. The route delivery service will also run 30 minutes later than it did today. This change is necessary to ensure that our students are receiving their hot meals in a timely manner.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we are constantly adjusting to make this work the best for all concerned.

Also, WT Services has made a “hot spot” available at the First Baptist Church parking lot and that service should be ready to go on Friday. We thank them for helping us and our students stay connected!

Please encourage your child as they are learning new styles of learning, as we are. I will communicate any changes to the school operations schedule as I learn them.

Stay safe and healthy and hope to see all of our students soon!
