Dear Parents & Guardians,

As you may know, the Board of Trustees approved calling a bond election for May 4, 2024. The $15 million bond package, if approved by the voters, will provide funds for facility improvements and enhanced safety measures for students.

The proposal was developed with input from the community during two town hall meetings that were open to the public. Throughout the process, community members actively participated in discussions, providing valuable insights and feedback on various aspects of the proposed projects. Their input played a pivotal role in shaping the priorities outlined in the bond proposal.

The bond, composed of two propositions, aims to address key priorities identified by the district:

Proposition A: $8 million will be allocated towards classroom additions to relocate Ridglea’s Pre-K through 1st grade to the main campus. Additionally, restroom renovations will be undertaken to ensure ADA compliance, prioritizing inclusivity and accessibility for all students.

Proposition B: $7 million will be dedicated to stadium improvements, including the relocation of track and field events to the main campus. This strategic move aims to enhance student safety by eliminating the need for students to walk off-campus for practice, ensuring a secure environment for physical activities.

If both propositions pass, the tax impact will result in an additional $0.4618 to the I&S tax rate. For the average home value of $106,000 in Bovina ISD, this translates to approximately $2.31 per month.

In the upcoming weeks, we will be rolling out a dedicated bond website where you can access detailed project information, tax impact information and an interactive tax impact calculator, voting information, and frequently asked questions. This platform will serve as a comprehensive resource for all stakeholders to stay informed about the bond election. There will also be scheduled public meetings to learn more and ask any questions you may have.

Anyone who resides in Bovina ISD and is registered to vote is eligible to vote in the bond election. The deadline to register is Thursday, April 4. Early voting is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 22, and will continue through Tuesday, April 30. Election Day is set for Saturday, May 4. Community members are encouraged to participate in the voting process to shape the future of Bovina ISD.

State law requires the District to only provide “factual” information about the bonds. We can not advocate for or against the bonds. It is your choice how you vote. Please feel free to contact our office with any questions, 806-251-1336.

Best Regards,
